Greetings to the group. This is my first post. I would like to be able to adjust the view window of a graph so that I can see the intersection of two equations. The results I get are a virtually flat line from the origin to the right margin. Thanks for any discussion or help.

I have a problem in compound interest that I would like to graph to include with a paper I am writing using MS Word ...

(4,-1) 2x-5y=8

the equation of a line is y=
write it in the form of y=mx+b

i know that m would be 2/5
but when i do
y-y=2/5(x-x) that is were is get messed up can some one explain this?

I am new to this site and i hope i am posting this in the right place...
My problem is the following:

During a 3000 mile flight, a plane encounters a strong tail wind that increased it's speed by 100mi/h. This increase in speed shortened the flying time by one(1) hour. Find the speed of the plane relative to the ground.

I feel pretty stupid not being able to answer this... :(
Thanks

finding the slope - rise over run

Hello,

I was wondering what calculator would be best suited to help find the solutions for finding the slope.

Two points are given lets say (0,5) (4,2)

yes the formula is m=Y2-Y1
                                       X2-X1

But is there a way for me to plug in the points or the formula and out comes the answer 1/3?

I would like to check my answers. I'm working on rational functions. What graph would I use? I need vertical asymptotes and horizontal asymptotes. When I use basic calculator i get a message that says that polynomials do not have asymptotes.
Thanks

-1/2(y-2)=2^-(x-1)

I still am not sure how to graph properly, I tried using the graphing calculator on this site and others. I just am not sure what first steps I should take. Like I said earlier, I can find the Horizontal translation, vertical translation, vertical stretch and I know the function is decreasing. But I still can't figure out how to graph it and find domain, range, asymptotes ...
