I'd love to help but I can't figure out how you are using the "/" to indicate division in one place but then use the underline "____________" in another place that also appears to be meaning division. It does appear that you are doing factoring and then cancellation. For example, a^2+5a+4=(a+1)(a+4) a^2+8a+16=(a+4)^2 (when you wrote a+8a+16 was that a typo?) a^2-2a+1=(a-1)^2 and a^2-5a-6=(a-3)(a-2) As for factor formulas, there are just a few...most factoring is a matter of performing trial and error and developing a knack for different situations. ---------------------------------------- Principal Skinner |
