When I try to graph multiple equations , y=log(3,x), y=log(3,x)+2, I get the message "unmatched parentheses". What's wrong?

Good point. You have done nothing wrong; it's a bug in the software. A workaround is to plot y=log(x),y=log(x)+2. The graphs to base 3 are similar to those to base 10. Or, if you prefer, the natural log is close enough to 3 (approx. base 2.7), so plot:

y=ln(x),y=ln(x)+2
